- Lecturers of the Faculty of Law took part in the 24th Autumn Legal Readings titled 'Protection of Human Rights in Ukraine under Martial Law and in the Post-War Period'
On October 23, 2025, the Leonid Yuzkov Khmelnytskyi University of Management and Law hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference — the 24th Autumn Legal Readings titled 'Protection of Human Rights in Ukraine under Martial Law and in the Post-War Period', dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the European Convention on Human Rights. Lecturers of the Faculty of Law — Yuliia Fidria, Head of the Department of Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement, and Denys Spiesivtsev , Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Law Disciplines — took part in the conference. The official opening of the academic event was conducted by Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine Oleh Omelchuk , who addressed all participants with a welcoming speech. - Expanding horizons through cooperation with the Wyższa Szkoła Kształcenia Zawodowego
At the Institute of Administration and Political Sciences of the Higher School of Vocational Education (Wyższa Szkoła Kształcenia Zawodowego) in Wrocław, a meeting of the institute's management with a delegation from the Faculty of Law of the Lesia Ukrainka Volyn National University was held, consisting of: Prof. Dr. Andriy Dukhnevych - Head of the Department of Civil Law Disciplines; Assoc. Prof., Dr. Natalia Karpinska - Professor of the Department of Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement A cooperation agreement between the educational institutions was signed during the meeting. The result of this meeting was the planning of a series of thematic events for students of both universities, which will be implemented at the School of Democracy, operating on the basis of the Institute of Administration and Political Sciences: The development of democracy and its impact on society and the state will be presented by American expert Eric Putsig, president of the Build Ukraine Democracy organization; The modern challenges of international relations, politics and the functioning of local governments in wartime, as well as the formation of democratic practices in the European context will be covered by the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of the Lesya Ukrainka University, Professor Antonina Shulyak; The use of digital tools for the development of democracy will be presented by the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Lesya Ukrainka University, Candidate of Laws, Associate Professor Anton Demchuk; The implementation of agreements between Ukraine and the EU and the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with EU law in wartime will be covered by Professor Andriy Dukhnevych, Head of the Department of Civil Law of the Lesya Ukrainka University. During the meeting, prospects for cooperation with the Volyn Mediation Center (Lutsk) were also discussed. The agreement signed with the Mediation Center provides for the exchange of experience in alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation in wartime.

On October 2, 2025, a delegation from the Faculty of Law of the Lesia Ukrainka Volyn National University visited the University of Warsaw. The delegation was headed by Anton Demchuk - Dean of the Faculty of Law, and was also accompanied by Yuriy Hofman - Deputy Dean for International Cooperation and Yulia Fidrya - Head of the Department of Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement. During the visit, meetings were held with The work was attended by: dr hab. prof. Piotr Grzebyk - Deputy Dean for Research and International Cooperation of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw dr hab. Dagmara Woźniakowska, prof. ucz. - Head of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Policy at the Institute of Criminology and Criminal Policy of the University of Warsaw. Dr Andriy Kosyło - Associate Professor of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Policy at the Institute of Criminology and Criminal Policy of the University of Warsaw. PhD Anna Sadecka – Head of the International Cooperation Office. During the meetings, the possibility of partner educational projects and academic exchange, development of grant projects and involvement in guest lectures were discussed. During the meeting, we had the opportunity to meet and talk with our graduate of the faculty, Andriy Kosyl, who works as an associate professor at the Department of Criminology and Criminal Policy at the Institute of Criminology and Criminal Policy of the University of Warsaw. There was a tour of the university library, as a center of youth and architectural innovations that are relevant to this day. The Faculty of Law of Lesya Ukrainka National University consistently develops international contacts, focusing on the exchange of experience, joint research and openness to academic cooperation.
- Lawyer's Day at the Faculty of Law
On October 8, 2025, a solemn award ceremony for the staff of the Faculty of Law was held at the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University on the occasion of Lawyer's Day. Among the guests at the event were Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Recruitment Yuriy Gromyk, Chairman of the Lutsk City District Court Anatoliy Pakholiuk, Chairman of the Volyn Oblast Bar Council Halyna Rudenko, Director of the Lutsk Local Center for Free Secondary Legal Aid Olga Kudrytska , as well as an American volunteer, Doctor of Law Eric Putig. The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the fallen Heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian War. Yuriy Gromyk was invited to deliver the opening speech. He emphasized that the history of Lesya Ukrainka University begins with the formation of the Volyn Law School. “If we talk about the age of our University as a classical institution of higher education, it is the same as that of the Law Faculty. We remember this, understand, realize and appreciate the great contribution of representatives of the Volyn Law School to the development of the institution and higher education in Volyn in general,” the vice-rector emphasized. The academic community of the University, in particular Rector Anatoly Tsyos , presented an honorary thank you to the staff of the Law Faculty. Also, honorary thanks and certificates from the Rector, Volyn Regional Administration, Volyn Regional Council and Lutsk City Mayor were awarded to: Professors, Doctors of Law Yana Lenger , Mariana Shchyrba and Natalia Karpinska , Professor, Doctor of Law Andriy Dukhnevych , Associate Professors, Candidates of Law Maria Sokol and Petro Glamazda , Senior Lecturer Natalia Voznyuk. Dean Anton Demchuk congratulated everyone involved in the professional holiday, and also motivated the students of the Faculty of Law to study conscientiously. “Everyone who tries and sees themselves in jurisprudence will be able to realize themselves in various fields. It is not necessary to become a judge or a lawyer - just choose the direction that you like. But what will unite you is Lawyer's Day, October 8,” he concluded. Eric Putzig also joined the congratulations, emphasizing the importance of jurisprudence as the basis of a legal state: “You have an extraordinary responsibility, since you represent Ukraine, which is developing and defending its interests and the rights of citizens. You have the authority to do this. You are driving human evolution and making Ukraine stronger.” The event ended with musical numbers. After the festivities, the guests mentioned earlier held open lectures dedicated to the judiciary and the legal profession so that students could learn more about these areas of the legal profession directly from representatives.

Law Faculty student Kotelchuk Sofia participated in the 13th Summer School of Constitutional Law. Judge of the Supreme Court of the Civil Court of Cassation Dmytro Hudyma and Judge of the Supreme Court of the Administrative Court of Cassation Albert Yezerov gave lectures on the application of soft international law by the courts of Ukraine. During the lecture, Dmytro Hudyma considered the topic “Soft international law and the practice of the Supreme Court”. The focus of the report was on the following questions: - what is hard and soft law; - does soft law have force; - can such force be hard; - can soft law acts be of importance for the interpretation of hard law acts, etc. Presentation by Dmytro Hudyma – https://cutt.ly/gr2TDW3Y . Supreme Court Judge at the Cassation Administrative Court Albert Yezerov, within the framework of the summer school, spoke, in particular, about the constitutional jurisprudence of ordinary courts. He noted that the issues of constitutional jurisdiction and constitutional order are significantly different for the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and courts of general jurisdiction (ordinary courts). For the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, this is the main, core activity. In contrast, ordinary courts use these powers only on occasion, and the moment of such an occasion is the subject of active discussion. The Summer School of Constitutional Law is a special platform where, for many years, the values of constitutionalism and the rule of law have been passed on to a new generation of lawyers every year. This is a place where outstanding Ukrainian law professors share their scientific achievements and wisdom with young lawyers in a relaxed atmosphere. This is what scientific and educational continuity consists of. The school has a relaxed atmosphere of creativity and thirst for knowledge. The ideological inspirers of the school were and are Mykhailo Savchyn, Stanislav Shevchuk and professors of the Ukrainian legal community. The event was organized within the framework of a joint project of the OSCE Support Program for Ukraine and the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
- A practical webinar was held for law faculty teachers on the topic: “Modern capabilities of legal analytics with Liga 360”
Within the framework of the signed Memorandum of Cooperation between the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University and the Limited Liability Company “LIGA ZAKON” and with the assistance of the Educational and Scientific Laboratory of Digital Technologies in Law, a practice-oriented webinar for teachers was held at the Faculty of Law, dedicated to the application of the functionality of the updated digital platform Liga 360. The event became a platform for discussing modern tools that help optimize work with legal information and improve the quality of professional decisions made by both practicing lawyers and law enforcement specialists. Specialists of “LIGA:LAW” LLC presented new features of the system, including improved search for regulatory legal acts, access to case law, analytical materials, convenient tools for working with documents, as well as integrated AI solutions that optimize the process of analyzing legal information and automate routine tasks. Teachers had the opportunity to ask questions to the speaker and join a professional discussion on ways to integrate modern digital legal resources into the educational process. The discussion focused on how the use of such innovative tools can increase the level of practical training of students and develop in them the skills necessary for successful professional activity in the conditions of digital transformation of the legal and law enforcement spheres.

On September 30, 2025, a delegation from the Faculty of Law of the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, consisting of: Anton Demchuk , Dean of the Faculty; Yulia Fidra , Head of the Department of Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Activities; and Yuriy Hoffmann , Deputy Dean for International Cooperation, had a productive meeting with representatives of the Faculty of Law and Administration and the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Lublin, Poland) . From the Polish side, the meeting was attended by: Yaroslav Kostrubyts , dean of WPiA, prof. dr hab. Marek Kulyk , Director of the Institute of Industrial Innovation Dr. Agata Przylepa-Levak Department of Theory and Philosophy of Law Dr. Pavel Klos, Department of Theory and Philosophy of Law and the Center for Academic Mediation The expansion of cooperation in scientific and teaching activities was discussed, which is quite natural given our long-term partnership and geographical proximity. On October 1, 2025, our delegation held a fruitful working meeting with colleagues from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Radom (Wydział Prawa i Administracji Uniwersytetu Radomskiego) . The following representatives from the Polish partner participated in the meeting: Dr. Pavel Svital – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration Dr. Monika Zhuchovska-Grzywach – Deputy Dean for Social Affairs, International Cooperation and Erasmus+ Program Prof. Eva Yasiuk – Professor of the Department of Security Sciences and Criminal Law The discussion was filled with concreteness and vision for the future. - XV Community Service Training Camp from the Student League of the Ukrainian Bar Association
On September 19–21, the Volyn Branch team took part in the 15th Anniversary Community Service Training Camp in Kyiv, which brought together active law students from all over Ukraine. The event program was rich and informative. Participants had the opportunity to: learn about professional development planning in the League and beyond from Mykhailo Protsaylo ; to understand the meaning of the “Lygov spirit” together with Darya Stavyshenko ; discuss the main challenges facing the Student League; hear the real experience of active members of the organization; get advice from Vladyslav Kryvoborody on effective communication as the key to new opportunities; analyze typical mistakes in organizing events and ways to avoid them. A separate part of the program was practical tasks and work on projects. Two team members won first place in the field of external relations. And the Head of the Center, Anastasia Bogdanova, received a special award - mentorship from Darya Stavyshenko . The camp provided participants with not only new knowledge and skills, but also a unique experience of teamwork, networking, and leadership development. They returned with a sense of professional growth, inspiration, and self-confidence. We express our sincere gratitude to the organizers, speakers, and participants for the opportunity to join an event of this level and become part of a strong student legal community.

The event was held within the framework of the implementation of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence project "Volyn Center for European Studies: Green and Safe Neighborhood" of the European Union's Erasmus+ program. More than 100 participants took part in the event in various forms. The Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and International Cooperation of the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, Doctor of Economics, Prof. Lyudmila Yeliseeva, the Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine, Candidate of Education, Svitlana Shytikova, the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and International Relations of the Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University, Doctor of Economics, Prof. Viktor Chuzhykov, addressed the audience with welcoming words. Dean of the Faculty of Law Anton Demchuk and representatives of 9 higher education institutions of Ukraine and abroad delivered reports at the meeting, namely the University of Augsburg (Germany), the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" (Ukraine), the Pomeranian University in Slupsk (Poland), the West Ukrainian National University (Ternopil, Ukraine), the Interuniversity Research Laboratory "Geography of Cities" (Paris, France), the A. S. Makarenko Sumy State Pedagogical University (Ukraine), the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (Ukraine), the Mangush OZZSO of the 1st-3rd centuries of the Mariupol district of the Donetsk region (Ukraine) and, of course, the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University (Ukraine). The topics of the speeches were quite diverse and interesting, as evidenced by the questions to the speakers and the discussion. Project coordinator Andriy Boyar made a report on the results of the implementation of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence “Volyn Center for European Studies: Green and Safe Neighborhood” (No. 101085647 – VCES – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH), emphasizing that during the period 2022-2025, the project held four press conferences, 18 trainings (719 participants: teachers and researchers, school teachers, business representatives, high school students, employees of the justice system and novice lawyers, public servants), four open courses each year (“Intro to the European Union”, “EU-Ukraine: Safe and Green Interaction and Action”, “Sustainable Business Development for a Greener Europe”, “Ensuring Security in the Digital Era: EU Experience”; 345 participants), the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Topical problems of European integration of Ukraine"; a website and a FB page of the project have been created; syllabi of all trainings and courses, presentations of thematic modules, a booklet about project activities, a monograph "Green and Safe European Union" (2023), a brochure "International and European Studies at the Faculty of International Studies of Lesya Ukrainka University" (2024), a monograph "Doing Sustainable Business in Europe" (2025), a collection of materials of the International Scientific and Practical Conference (2025), 10 articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals (2022–2025). - First-year students of the K9 specialty "Law Enforcement Activities" visited the Main Police Department in the Volyn region
The students met with representatives of various police departments. Thus, the head of juvenile prevention Inna Ostapovich noted that young people have a truly unique opportunity to see the work of the police from the inside and communicate with those who protect them. The head of the department of the main inspection, Roman Kachan, informed about the specifics of the work of police officers, about conducting official investigations, and wished the students to always have a cool head. Andriy Ostapovych from VODITTMDZ spoke about the Custody records system, which is already in operation in all units in the region, and about the activities of human rights inspectors. The applicants listened with interest to Igor Dryuchan , an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who is currently an advisor to the Chief of Police on veterans' issues. He dispelled the myth that "the police do not fight" and spoke about his own combat career. Petro Lyubchyk from the rifle battalion is a vivid example of a police officer who has been fighting since 2014. He talked about the specifics of the work of the explosives department of the combat unit he heads. Psychologist Maryana Mykytyuk talked about how she was in the east with the fighters and what psychological practices she uses with her colleagues in her work. She also gave examples of how they currently work with the wounded to restore them. Head of the communications sector, Olga Buzuluk, emphasized the verification of information from official sources and spoke about the specifics of covering police activities. Then there was a familiarization tour on the street. The students were shown how forensic scientists and explosives technicians work. The soldiers of the rifle battalion, the KORD and the special police company demonstrated their area of work. The dog handlers with service dogs aroused particular interest. Finally, the guests were given a tour of the situational center of the Main Police Department, where they were shown the work of the duty unit, the 102 service, dispatchers and other units. - How to maintain your own mental health and establish quality communication with the military?
As part of the psychological training of future law enforcement officers studying at the Faculty of Law, a binary practical session was held, which was conducted by an invited guest - psychologist, head of the Center for Mediation and Psychology of LNTU, mediator of the NGO "Volyn Mediation Center" Oksana Mayboroda . Students not only gained useful knowledge, but also practiced practical skills: ✔️ how to support themselves and others in crisis situations; ✔️ how to effectively interact with the military; ✔️ how law officers can create a safe environment in wartime. Psychological training and development of practical skills for maintaining the mental health of law enforcement officers in martial law conditions are extremely important for their professional effectiveness and ability to create a safe environment.
