Lawyer's Day at the Faculty of Law

On October 8, 2025, a solemn award ceremony for the staff of the Faculty of Law was held at the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University on the occasion of Lawyer's Day.


Among the guests at the event were Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Recruitment Yuriy Gromyk, Chairman of the Lutsk City District Court Anatoliy Pakholiuk, Chairman of the Volyn Oblast Bar Council Halyna Rudenko, Director of the Lutsk Local Center for Free Secondary Legal Aid Olga Kudrytska, as well as an American volunteer, Doctor of Law Eric Putig.

The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the fallen Heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian War. Yuriy Gromyk was invited to deliver the opening speech. He emphasized that the history of Lesya Ukrainka University begins with the formation of the Volyn Law School.


“If we talk about the age of our University as a classical institution of higher education, it is the same as that of the Law Faculty. We remember this, understand, realize and appreciate the great contribution of representatives of the Volyn Law School to the development of the institution and higher education in Volyn in general,” the vice-rector emphasized.


The academic community of the University, in particular Rector Anatoly Tsyos, presented an honorary thank you to the staff of the Law Faculty.


Also, honorary thanks and certificates from the Rector, Volyn Regional Administration, Volyn Regional Council and Lutsk City Mayor were awarded to: Professors, Doctors of Law Yana Lenger, Mariana Shchyrba and Natalia Karpinska, Professor, Doctor of Law Andriy Dukhnevych, Associate Professors, Candidates of Law Maria Sokol and Petro Glamazda, Senior Lecturer Natalia Voznyuk.

Dean Anton Demchuk congratulated everyone involved in the professional holiday, and also motivated the students of the Faculty of Law to study conscientiously.


“Everyone who tries and sees themselves in jurisprudence will be able to realize themselves in various fields. It is not necessary to become a judge or a lawyer - just choose the direction that you like. But what will unite you is Lawyer's Day, October 8,” he concluded.

Eric Putzig also joined the congratulations, emphasizing the importance of jurisprudence as the basis of a legal state:


“You have an extraordinary responsibility, since you represent Ukraine, which is developing and defending its interests and the rights of citizens. You have the authority to do this. You are driving human evolution and making Ukraine stronger.”

The event ended with musical numbers. After the festivities, the guests mentioned earlier held open lectures dedicated to the judiciary and the legal profession so that students could learn more about these areas of the legal profession directly from representatives.
