A student of the Faculty of Law participated in the XIII Summer School of Constitutional Law "Constitutional Democracy in Conditions of Martial Law and Post-War Recovery: Vision of the Constitutional

Law Faculty student Kotelchuk Sofia participated in the 13th Summer School of Constitutional Law.

Judge of the Supreme Court of the Civil Court of Cassation Dmytro Hudyma and Judge of the Supreme Court of the Administrative Court of Cassation Albert Yezerov gave lectures on the application of soft international law by the courts of Ukraine.

During the lecture, Dmytro Hudyma considered the topic “Soft international law and the practice of the Supreme Court”.

The focus of the report was on the following questions:

- what is hard and soft law;

- does soft law have force;

- can such force be hard;

- can soft law acts be of importance for the interpretation of hard law acts, etc.

Supreme Court Judge at the Cassation Administrative Court Albert Yezerov, within the framework of the summer school, spoke, in particular, about the constitutional jurisprudence of ordinary courts.

He noted that the issues of constitutional jurisdiction and constitutional order are significantly different for the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and courts of general jurisdiction (ordinary courts). For the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, this is the main, core activity. In contrast, ordinary courts use these powers only on occasion, and the moment of such an occasion is the subject of active discussion.

The Summer School of Constitutional Law is a special platform where, for many years, the values ​​of constitutionalism and the rule of law have been passed on to a new generation of lawyers every year. This is a place where outstanding Ukrainian law professors share their scientific achievements and wisdom with young lawyers in a relaxed atmosphere.

This is what scientific and educational continuity consists of. The school has a relaxed atmosphere of creativity and thirst for knowledge. The ideological inspirers of the school were and are Mykhailo Savchyn, Stanislav Shevchuk and professors of the Ukrainian legal community.

The event was organized within the framework of a joint project of the OSCE Support Program for Ukraine and the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
